Couples therapy
The goal of couples therapy is to improve your relationship. It can help you at any stage of your relationship, regardless of marital status, age, gender, faith, or sexual orientation. Couples therapy is mostly sought when the couple is having some relationship issues (conflicts, issues related to sex, difficulties due to external stressors, feeling of disconnection, etc.) and when the dialogue is complicated between the both of you.
Sessions are a non-judgmental safe space where the therapist is neutral and will not take any decisions on behalf of the couple. Psychologist’s role is to accompany the couple and, if need be, to help both members to an informed decision concerning the future of their relationship.
Both members of the couple attend the first session as it is important to observe and understand the dynamics of the relationship, what you may encounter and what are your wishes and needs. Thereafter, individual sessions can sometimes be suggested to each partner but sessions are mostly with the both of you.
Couples therapy typically lasts about an hour once a week.
